Acne and Acne Scar Before and After Results in Brighton
Acne and acne scarring are treated with a personalised, doctor-led plan at Dr Selvi Clinic in Brighton. The photos below include severe active acne, post-acne marks, rolling and boxcar scarring, and keratosis pilaris, the rough "chicken skin" bumps often seen on the upper arms.

What these results show
You can see calmer skin after treatment for severe active acne, faded post-inflammatory marks, smoother texture in scarred areas, and smoother skin on the arms in keratosis pilaris. Scarring improves gradually, so several results show progress across a course of sessions.
How the treatment plan is built
The skin is assessed as a whole: acne type, oil production, pigmentation, sensitivity and the type of scarring. Depending on what is found, a plan may combine medical-grade chemical peels, medical microneedling, subcision, Plexr plasma for marks and lesions, and regenerative skin treatments. Active acne is brought under control before scar treatment, and microneedling is not performed over inflamed skin.
Key facts
- Acne scarring usually needs 4–6 microneedling sessions about 4 weeks apart
- Redness after microneedling: like mild sunburn for 24–48 hours
- No single session erases acne scarring; improvement is gradual
- Peels are chosen by a doctor, as the wrong peel can worsen pigmentation

Frequently asked questions
How many sessions do I need for acne scars?
Usually four to six sessions about four weeks apart. Acne scarring improves gradually, and anyone promising to erase it in one session is overselling the treatment.
Can active acne and scars be treated at the same time?
Active acne is brought under control first. Microneedling is not performed over active or inflamed acne, so scar work usually follows once the skin is calmer.
Can keratosis pilaris be improved?
Yes, the rough texture can usually be improved with a plan focused on exfoliation, skin renewal and hydration. It is a long-term tendency of the skin, so maintenance helps keep the result.
Results vary from person to person. These photos show individual patients of Dr Selvi Clinic and are not a promise of your outcome. All treatments are medical procedures and start with a face-to-face consultation with a doctor.
