Acne Peel Session (Salicylic / Jessner)
Clear the Pores. Calm the Breakouts. A clinical peel using salicylic acid or a Jessner solution, chosen for acne.
Service Description
WHAT IT IS A clinical peel using salicylic acid or a Jessner solution, chosen for acne. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it penetrates into the pore itself rather than only working on the surface — the reason it is the standard acid for acne. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT It works inside the pore where the problem is: clearing the plug of oil and dead cells that starts every spot, reducing bacteria, and calming inflammation. Over a course it reduces both active breakouts and the marks they leave. WHAT WE AIM FOR Fewer active breakouts, clearer pores, reduced post-acne marking and improved skin texture, built across a course. WHO IT SUITS · Active mild to moderate acne · Blackheads, whiteheads and congestion · Oily skin with recurrent breakouts · Post-acne marks alongside active spots · Back and chest acne as well as face TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 20–30 minutes Discomfort: Stinging for a few minutes Downtime: Redness, then light flaking for 2–4 days Sessions: Course of 4–6, two to four weeks apart Course of 4 available: £299 Aftercare: Daily SPF 50; no picking FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I have a peel with active spots? Yes — that is what this peel is for. Dr Selvi will avoid any broken or heavily inflamed lesions and adjust the strength to what your skin can safely take. Should I book single sessions or the course? The course of four at £299 is both the clinically recommended protocol and better value than four singles. Acne peels work cumulatively; one session will not resolve acne. Will my acne get worse before it gets better? Sometimes, yes. A short purging phase in the first two to four weeks is common as treatment brings existing congestion to the surface faster. It is expected and temporary — stopping at that point is the most common reason people conclude a treatment 'did not work'. How long before I see real improvement? Acne treatment takes time because the skin cycle takes time. Expect meaningful change at six to eight weeks and a clear result at three months. Anyone promising clearance in a fortnight is selling you something. Does what I eat matter? For some people, yes — particularly high-glycaemic foods and, in some individuals, dairy. The evidence is real but the effect varies considerably between people. Dr Selvi will discuss it as part of your assessment rather than issuing a blanket rule. Will I need to change my skincare? Almost certainly, and this is often the most valuable part of the consultation. Many people with acne are using products that make it worse — heavy moisturisers, harsh scrubs, or over-cleansing that strips and inflames the skin. When would you refer me elsewhere? Severe nodulocystic acne, acne that is scarring, and acne that has not responded to appropriate treatment may need oral prescription therapy under dermatology supervision. Dr Selvi will tell you if that is what you need rather than putting you through a course that will not be enough. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability. BOOKING Book online, or start with the free 15-minute initial consultation if you are unsure which treatment is right for you.
