Service Description

WHAT IT IS A structured starting package for acne: a full doctor consultation to assess the type and cause of your acne, followed by two clinical peels and an LED session over four to six weeks, with a skincare plan to follow at home. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Most people with acne have tried a long series of products without a diagnosis. Starting with a proper assessment — what type of acne this is, what is driving it, what your skin will tolerate — makes everything that follows more likely to work. WHAT WE AIM FOR A meaningful reduction in active breakouts within four to six weeks, alongside a clear understanding of your acne and a plan you can continue. WHO IT SUITS · Mild to moderate acne · Having tried products without a proper diagnosis · Wanting to start treatment properly rather than piecemeal · Teenagers and adults alike · Adult-onset or hormonal acne TREATMENT DETAILS Includes: Doctor consultation, 2 clinical peels, 1 LED session Over: 4–6 weeks Discomfort: Peels sting briefly; LED is painless Downtime: Light flaking for a few days after each peel First results: From 3–4 weeks Next step: Intensive Acne Programme, or maintenance FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Will this clear my acne completely? In mild cases it can come close. In moderate acne it is a strong start rather than a complete answer, and Dr Selvi will tell you at the consultation what a realistic outcome looks like for your skin — including if you need something more than this package. Is the home-care advice included? Yes. You will leave the consultation with a specific skincare plan. Products themselves are not included in the package price. Will my acne get worse before it gets better? Sometimes, yes. A short purging phase in the first two to four weeks is common as treatment brings existing congestion to the surface faster. It is expected and temporary — stopping at that point is the most common reason people conclude a treatment 'did not work'. How long before I see real improvement? Acne treatment takes time because the skin cycle takes time. Expect meaningful change at six to eight weeks and a clear result at three months. Anyone promising clearance in a fortnight is selling you something. Does what I eat matter? For some people, yes — particularly high-glycaemic foods and, in some individuals, dairy. The evidence is real but the effect varies considerably between people. Dr Selvi will discuss it as part of your assessment rather than issuing a blanket rule. Will I need to change my skincare? Almost certainly, and this is often the most valuable part of the consultation. Many people with acne are using products that make it worse — heavy moisturisers, harsh scrubs, or over-cleansing that strips and inflames the skin. When would you refer me elsewhere? Severe nodulocystic acne, acne that is scarring, and acne that has not responded to appropriate treatment may need oral prescription therapy under dermatology supervision. Dr Selvi will tell you if that is what you need rather than putting you through a course that will not be enough. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability. BOOKING Book online, or start with the free 15-minute initial consultation if you are unsure which treatment is right for you.
