Not with sensible volumes placed in the right layer. An overfilled look usually comes from adding product near the surface again and again rather than restoring deep support. Often partly, because better cheek support reduces the weight of tissue sitting on the fold. Some people still benefit from a small amount of nasolabial filler afterwards; Dr Selvi will advise once the cheek result has settled. Classic or Premium Range: which do I need? Both use hyaluronic acid and both are given by Dr Selvi. The Premium Range uses specific branded gels; the Classic Range uses established hyaluronic acid fillers. Which suits you depends on your anatomy and goals, and the more expensive option is not automatically the better one for every face. What are the risks? Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common and settle within days. A rare but serious risk is vascular occlusion: filler entering or pressing on a blood vessel and reducing the blood supply to the skin. Signs include skin turning pale or blotchy and pain out of proportion to the treatment. It needs treatment straight away, which is why Dr Selvi assesses carefully, injects slowly and keeps hyaluronidase on site. Is it reversible? Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme kept at the clinic. It is used promptly if a complication occurs, and it can also be used if you are unhappy with the result once it has settled. How should I prepare, and what is the aftercare? If you can, avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil supplements for 48 hours beforehand to reduce bruising, but never stop prescribed medication without your prescriber's advice. Afterwards, leave the area alone for 24 hours, sleep propped up on the first night, and avoid hard exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24–48 hours. Who will treat me?
