Cosmelan / Dermamelan Melasma Peel
The Serious Approach to Melasma. Cosmelan and Dermamelan are professional depigmentation protocols for melasma and stubborn pigmentation.
Service Description
WHAT IT IS Cosmelan and Dermamelan are professional depigmentation protocols for melasma and stubborn pigmentation. A mask is applied in clinic and left in place for several hours, then followed by a strictly prescribed home-care regimen over the following months. The in-clinic step is the beginning, not the whole treatment. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Melasma is the most difficult pigmentation condition to treat and the one most likely to return. Single treatments almost always fail. These protocols work because they combine a clinic intervention with sustained home care that keeps suppressing the pigment-producing pathway. WHAT WE AIM FOR Substantial and sustained reduction in melasma and stubborn pigmentation, with a maintenance regimen designed to keep it from returning. WHO IT SUITS · Melasma that has resisted other treatments · Stubborn post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation · Sun-induced pigmentation across the face · Willing to commit to months of home care · Understanding that melasma is managed rather than cured TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 60 minutes in clinic Mask time: Several hours, worn home and removed as instructed Discomfort: Warmth, tightness, then significant redness Downtime: Redness and peeling for 7–10 days Home care: Prescribed regimen for several months — essential First results: From 2 weeks; continues over months Essential: Rigorous daily SPF 50, indefinitely FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Will my melasma be gone permanently? No, and any clinic promising that is misleading you. Melasma is a chronic condition driven by hormones, sun and heat. This protocol can reduce it dramatically, but it will return without ongoing maintenance and strict sun protection. Dr Selvi will be direct with you about this before you commit. Why is the home care so important? Because it is most of the treatment. Patients who follow the in-clinic step and then abandon the regimen consistently see the pigment return. If you are not able to commit to the home care, this is not the right treatment and it would be wrong to sell it to you. Is the home-care product included in the price? Confirm at consultation — Dr Selvi will set out exactly what is included and what the ongoing cost of maintenance will be, so there are no surprises. Can I have it in summer? It is better started in autumn or winter. Sun exposure during the treatment period undermines the result and can worsen the pigmentation. Can I have a peel if I have darker skin? Yes, but the choice of peel matters a great deal. Deeper peels carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in richly pigmented skin. Dr Selvi will select an appropriate peel and depth, and may recommend priming your skin beforehand. When should I not have a peel? Not during pregnancy or breastfeeding for most agents, not over active cold sores, broken skin or infection, not on recently sun-exposed or sunburnt skin, and not while taking oral isotretinoin or within six months of stopping. Tell Dr Selvi about all medications at consultation. How soon before an event should I have one? Allow at least two weeks for a light peel and four weeks for a medium-depth peel. Never have a peel for the first time in the week before something important. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
