WHAT THE CONSULTATION COVERS A face-to-face consultation with Dr Selvi about crow's feet — the lines at the outer corners of the eyes that show when you smile. He looks at the area at rest and when smiling, considers how much of the concern relates to muscle movement and how much to skin quality, and checks your medical history and medicines. WHO IT MAY SUIT · Lines at the sides of the eyes that show when you smile · Lines that remain visible at rest · A first appointment for lines around the eyes · Wanting to understand which options suit muscle-related lines and which suit skin quality WHAT HAPPENS IF TREATMENT IS APPROPRIATE If a prescription-only treatment is appropriate, Dr Selvi prescribes and administers it himself after a face-to-face assessment; if it is not, he will say so and discuss alternatives. If you wish to go ahead, treatment can usually be given at the same appointment; you are also welcome to take time to decide. If treatment is given, any effect is usually visible within 3–7 days, fully seen at about 2 weeks and typically lasts 3–4 months. TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: About 30 minutes Assessment: Face-to-face with Dr Selvi, including medical history, current medicines and how your face moves Downtime: Usually little or none; avoid touching or rubbing the area for 24 hours and strenuous exercise for a day FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Will it affect my smile? The aim is to keep a natural smile, and the plan is agreed with you. Results vary between individuals, and Dr Selvi will discuss realistic expectations. What are the risks? Temporary redness, swelling or bruising at the injection points are the most common; the skin around the eyes bruises easily. Rarely, the result can look uneven or an eyelid can droop temporarily. Will it help lines that are there at rest? Lines that remain at rest often relate to skin quality as well as movement. Dr Selvi will tell you honestly what is realistic and whether a skin-quality treatment would suit you better. Who is it not suitable for? Treatment is not given to anyone under 18, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with certain neuromuscular conditions or medicines. Dr Selvi checks this at the consultation. Who will treat me?
