Exosome
Medical microneedling with a topical exosome solution for smoother, brighter-looking skin.
Service Description
WHAT IT IS Exosome treatment at Dr Selvi Clinic in Brighton combines medical microneedling with a topical exosome solution, applied to the skin during treatment. It is offered for dull, uneven or textured skin and shallow acne scarring, for patients who want one of the newest approaches to skin quality. Exosomes are microscopic packages that cells use to carry proteins, lipids and fragments of genetic material between one another. The products used in aesthetic clinics are laboratory-made, derived from cell cultures, purified, and contain no living cells. During treatment, the microneedling device creates controlled micro-channels and the solution is applied during and immediately after needling. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Some patients prefer microneedling to injectable treatments, and many are interested in newer regenerative options. Microneedling itself has a well-understood role in texture and scarring, and the exosome solution is applied to support the skin's response to it. WHAT WE AIM FOR A smoother, brighter and more even-looking skin surface over a course of treatment. Results build gradually and vary between individuals. Exosome skin treatment is a newer, fast-developing area; early studies, usually combined with microneedling or laser, have reported improvements in skin texture, tone and signs of ageing. Products differ in source, concentration and purity, and long-term data are still being gathered. Is the exosome solution injected? At Dr Selvi Clinic it is applied to the skin during and after microneedling. How does it compare with PRP and polynucleotides? PRP uses your own blood and has the longest track record. Polynucleotides are a purified injectable with a growing body of evidence. Exosomes are the newest of the three. Dr Selvi explains which suits your skin, and they can be combined in a plan. Who should not have it? It is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active acne or infection, where there is a history of keloid scarring, or where an autoimmune skin condition affects the area. Very deep scars, marked laxity and lost volume need other treatments, which Dr Selvi will explain. What are the risks? Most effects are those of microneedling: redness, swelling and dryness for a few days. Prolonged redness, temporary breakouts, small bruises, infection if aftercare is not followed, and pigmentation change in darker or sun-exposed skin can occur. An allergic reaction to the product is uncommon but possible. How is a course planned? Dr Selvi plans the number and spacing of sessions at consultation and reviews the skin some weeks after the course, because any change in texture develops gradually. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by Dr Selvi, a doctor, after a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
