Advanced Signalling for the Scalp. Exosomes are tiny vesicles that carry signalling molecules — growth factors, proteins and genetic material — between cells.
Service Description
WHAT IT IS Exosomes are tiny vesicles that carry signalling molecules — growth factors, proteins and genetic material — between cells. Applied to the scalp, they aim to deliver regenerative signals directly to the follicle environment. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT It is the most advanced option currently available for scalp treatment, and it is often chosen by patients who have had a partial response to PRP or mesotherapy and want to add something with a different mechanism. WHAT WE AIM FOR Improved follicle environment, reduced shedding and support for new growth, particularly in combination with other scalp treatments. WHO IT SUITS · Thinning that has partially responded to other treatments · Wanting the most advanced available option · Combining with PRP or mesotherapy · Diffuse thinning in men and women · Post-transplant support, where advised TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 30–45 minutes Discomfort: Multiple small injections; numbing available Downtime: None; wash hair after 24 hours First results: 8–12 weeks Sessions: Course of 3, four weeks apart Maintenance: Every 6 months FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Is the evidence as strong as for PRP? No, and it is right to say so. PRP has a much larger body of published evidence for hair loss. Exosome therapy is newer and the research is still developing. Dr Selvi will discuss the current evidence honestly rather than presenting it as proven, and will not push it over better-established options. Why is it more expensive? The product itself is considerably more costly than PRP or a mesotherapy cocktail. Whether the additional cost is justified for you is something to discuss frankly at consultation. How soon will I see a difference? Hair grows slowly and the cycle is long. Expect reduced shedding first, at around six to eight weeks, then visible new growth from three to four months. Judging the result before four months is judging it too early. Will it work for me? It depends entirely on why you are losing hair, which is why assessment comes first. Thinning follicles that are still alive can be stimulated; follicles that have been dormant for years and where the scalp is completely smooth cannot. Dr Selvi will examine your scalp and tell you honestly which situation you are in. Do I need blood tests? Often, yes. Iron deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, vitamin D deficiency and hormonal factors are common and treatable causes of hair loss, and treating the scalp while ignoring an underlying cause achieves very little. Dr Selvi will advise what testing is appropriate. Does it hurt? The scalp is sensitive and there are multiple injection points. Numbing is applied and most patients manage well, describing it as uncomfortable rather than painful. It is over quickly. Will I need to keep having it? Hair loss is usually an ongoing process, so maintenance sessions every four to six months are typically needed to hold the result. Stopping entirely generally means gradual return to the previous state. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
