WHAT THE CONSULTATION COVERS A face-to-face consultation with Dr Selvi about lines across the forehead. He looks at your forehead at rest and when you raise your eyebrows, checks the position of the brows and eyelids, and asks about your medical history and medicines. The forehead muscle also helps hold the brows up, so the plan takes brow position into account and may include the frown area. WHO IT MAY SUIT · Horizontal lines across the forehead · Lines that show when you raise your eyebrows · Lines that remain visible at rest · A first appointment for forehead lines, with questions about what is involved WHAT HAPPENS IF TREATMENT IS APPROPRIATE If a prescription-only treatment is appropriate, Dr Selvi prescribes and administers it himself after a face-to-face assessment; if it is not, he will say so and discuss alternatives. If you wish to go ahead, treatment can usually be given at the same appointment; you are also welcome to take time to decide. If treatment is given, any effect is usually visible within 3–7 days, fully seen at about 14 days and typically lasts 3–4 months. TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: Up to 60 minutes Assessment: Face-to-face with Dr Selvi, including medical history, current medicines and how your face moves, including brow position Downtime: Usually little or none; avoid rubbing the area for 24 hours and stay upright for 4 hours after treatment FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Why might Dr Selvi suggest treating the frown area too? The forehead and frown muscles work against each other. Treating the forehead alone can sometimes affect how the brows sit, so Dr Selvi will explain if he thinks both areas should be considered. What are the risks? Temporary redness, swelling or bruising at the injection points, a slight headache or a tight feeling are the most common. Less commonly, the brows can feel heavy or sit lower, or the result can look uneven; these effects are temporary but can last several weeks. Will it remove lines that are there at rest? Deeper lines that remain at rest often relate to skin quality as well as movement. Dr Selvi will tell you honestly what is realistic. Who is it not suitable for? Treatment is not given to anyone under 18, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with certain neuromuscular conditions or medicines. Dr Selvi checks this at the consultation. Who will treat me?
