WHAT THE CONSULTATION COVERS A face-to-face consultation with Dr Selvi about frown lines — the vertical lines between the eyebrows that show when you frown or concentrate. He looks at the area at rest and with expression, checks the position of the brows and eyelids, and asks about your medical history and medicines. WHO IT MAY SUIT · Vertical lines between the eyebrows · Lines that show when you frown or concentrate · Lines that remain visible at rest · A first appointment for lines and wrinkles, with questions about what is involved WHAT HAPPENS IF TREATMENT IS APPROPRIATE If a prescription-only treatment is appropriate, Dr Selvi prescribes and administers it himself after a face-to-face assessment; if it is not, he will say so and discuss alternatives. If you wish to go ahead, treatment can usually be given at the same appointment; you are also welcome to take time to decide. If treatment is given, any effect is usually visible within 3–7 days, fully seen at about 14 days and typically lasts 3–4 months. TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: About 30 minutes Assessment: Face-to-face with Dr Selvi, including medical history, current medicines and how your face moves Downtime: Usually little or none; avoid rubbing the area for 24 hours and strenuous exercise for a day FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Will I still be able to frown? The plan is agreed with you, and Dr Selvi takes into account how much movement you want to keep. Results vary between individuals. What are the risks? Temporary redness, swelling or bruising at the injection points are the most common, and some people have a slight headache or tight feeling. Less commonly, an eyelid or brow can droop temporarily, or the result can look uneven. Will it remove deep lines? Deeper lines that remain at rest often relate to skin quality as well as movement. Dr Selvi will tell you honestly what is realistic and discuss alternatives. Who is it not suitable for? Treatment is not given to anyone under 18, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with certain neuromuscular conditions or medicines. Dr Selvi checks this at the consultation. Who will treat me?
