Service Description

WHAT IT IS Hand rejuvenation at Dr Selvi Clinic in Brighton uses hyaluronic acid filler on the back of the hand to restore volume where thinning makes veins and tendons more visible. It is a Classic Range filler treatment, planned by Dr Selvi after a free initial consultation and an assessment of your hands. Filler addresses volume. Pigmentation, sun spots and crepey texture on the hands are different concerns that filler does not change; if those are what bother you most, Dr Selvi will discuss whether another treatment would suit you better. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT The back of the hand loses volume with age, so the skin thins over the veins and tendons beneath. Hands are often noticed as much as the face, and some people feel their hands no longer match their face, particularly after facial treatment. WHAT WE AIM FOR Softer-looking hands with less prominent veins and tendons, using volume that looks natural both at rest and when the hand moves. WHO IT SUITS · Thinning of the back of the hands · Veins and tendons that have become more visible · Wanting the hands to look in keeping with the face · People whose main concern is volume rather than pigmentation TREATMENT DETAILS Treatment time: Typically 30–45 minutes Discomfort: Numbing cream applied; most fillers also contain local anaesthetic Downtime: Swelling of the backs of the hands for a few days; bruising possible Final result: 1–2 weeks, once swelling has settled Duration: Typically 6–12 months, depending on the product used Aftercare: Avoid hard exercise, saunas, hot baths and alcohol for 24–48 hours FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Will filler help brown spots or crepey skin? No. Filler restores volume; it does not change pigmentation or skin texture. Dr Selvi will tell you which part of your concern filler can help with. Can I use my hands normally afterwards? Yes, for everyday tasks. Swelling can make the hands feel puffy or tight for a few days, so avoid booking just before an occasion when your hands will be on show. What are the risks? Swelling, tenderness and bruising are the most common effects. Vascular occlusion, where filler blocks or presses on a blood vessel and reduces the blood supply to the skin, is a rare risk with any filler. Dr Selvi assesses the hands carefully, injects in the right layer and keeps hyaluronidase on site so a problem can be treated straight away. Is it reversible? Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if there is a complication, or if you are unhappy with the result once it has settled. How long does it last? Typically 6–12 months, depending on the product used. A top-up can maintain the result. Can it be combined with facial treatment? Yes, it can be planned alongside facial filler. Dr Selvi will advise on timing and amounts at consultation. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by Dr Selvi, a doctor, after a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
