Suitability is assessed individually and treatment is only offered where standard therapies have not provided adequate control. No. It is intended only for severe cases where standard treatments have failed, and it is not a first-line option. UK specialist allergy guidance does not recommend routine use of injected treatment for hay fever, and Dr Selvi will discuss this openly with you, including the alternatives, before any decision is made. What are the alternatives? Antihistamines, nasal corticosteroid sprays used correctly and started early, eye drops, allergen avoidance measures, and for persistent cases referral for immunotherapy. Many patients are not using nasal sprays correctly or early enough, and correcting that alone often helps significantly. What are the risks? There are recognised risks associated with injected corticosteroid treatment, which Dr Selvi will explain fully as part of the consultation. You will be given the information needed to make an informed decision, and no treatment will proceed without your consent. Will I definitely be offered treatment if I book? No. The appointment is a consultation and assessment. If treatment is not clinically appropriate for you, Dr Selvi will say so and discuss the alternatives instead. Who will treat me?
