Service Description

WHAT IT IS HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It delivers precisely targeted ultrasound energy to the deep support layer of the skin — the same layer a surgeon tightens during a facelift — without breaking the surface. The heat triggers a controlled repair response, and over the following months your own collagen rebuilds and contracts, lifting the tissue from within. Treating the face and neck together addresses the two areas that most obviously age in step with each other. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT The neck is where age shows first and where treatment is most often skipped. Lifting the face while leaving the neck untreated creates an obvious mismatch — treating both keeps the result coherent from hairline to collarbone. WHAT WE AIM FOR A lifted mid-face and jawline combined with a smoother, firmer neck — no visible line where the treatment stopped. WHO IT SUITS · Softening jawline together with early neck laxity · Horizontal neck lines and crepey neck skin · Wanting a complete, balanced rejuvenation in one session · Patients who feel their neck 'gives away' their age TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment 90 minutes Discomfort Moderate, brief — no anaesthetic needed Downtime None First results Gradual from 4 weeks; final at ~3 months Duration 12–18 months Sessions Usually one; annual maintenance FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Why does the neck need treating separately? Neck skin is thinner, has fewer oil glands and less structural support than facial skin, so it loses firmness earlier and responds differently. It needs its own energy settings rather than being treated as an extension of the face. Will it help a double chin? HIFU tightens skin and can improve definition under the chin, but it is not primarily a fat-reduction treatment. If submental fullness is mainly fat, Dr Selvi may recommend combining it with fat-dissolving injections. Is it painful? Most patients describe brief waves of heat or a deep prickling sensation as the energy is delivered. It is manageable without anaesthetic, and it stops the moment the applicator lifts. Bony areas such as the jawline and forehead are the most sensitive. How soon will I see a result? There is often a mild immediate tightening from the initial tissue response, but the real change is gradual. Collagen remodelling builds over 8 to 12 weeks, with the final result at around three months. How long does it last? Typically 12 to 18 months, depending on your age, skin quality and lifestyle. HIFU does not stop ageing — it resets the clock, and an annual session maintains the result. Is there any downtime? None in practical terms. Some patients have mild redness or a slightly tender, bruised feeling under the skin for a few days. You can wear make-up and return to work the same day. Who should not have HIFU? It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection or open lesions in the treatment area, or where there are metal implants or an implanted electrical device in the region. Dr Selvi will confirm your suitability at consultation. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
