Service Description

WHAT IT IS HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It delivers precisely targeted ultrasound energy to the deep support layer of the skin — the same layer a surgeon tightens during a facelift — without breaking the surface. The heat triggers a controlled repair response, and over the following months your own collagen rebuilds and contracts, lifting the tissue from within. Applied across the forehead and brow to tighten the skin and lift the upper third of the face. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT The upper face sets the expression the world reads first. A tight, lifted forehead reads as alert and youthful, while forehead laxity contributes to brow heaviness and deepening horizontal lines. WHAT WE AIM FOR Firmer forehead skin, a lifted brow position, and softening of static forehead lines — while keeping your expressions entirely your own. WHO IT SUITS · Forehead skin that has lost firmness · A brow that sits lower than it once did · Horizontal forehead lines that persist at rest · Wanting an alternative or complement to anti-wrinkle injections TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment 30–45 minutes Discomfort Moderate — the forehead is bony and more sensitive Downtime None First results Gradual from 4 weeks; final at ~3 months Duration 12–18 months Sessions Usually one; annual maintenance FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I have this as well as anti-wrinkle injections? Yes. They target different mechanisms — injections relax the muscle that creases the skin, HIFU tightens and thickens the skin itself. Used together, forehead lines soften more completely than with either alone. Will my forehead look frozen? No. HIFU does not affect muscle function at all, so movement and expression are entirely preserved. Is it painful? Most patients describe brief waves of heat or a deep prickling sensation as the energy is delivered. It is manageable without anaesthetic, and it stops the moment the applicator lifts. Bony areas such as the jawline and forehead are the most sensitive. How soon will I see a result? There is often a mild immediate tightening from the initial tissue response, but the real change is gradual. Collagen remodelling builds over 8 to 12 weeks, with the final result at around three months. How long does it last? Typically 12 to 18 months, depending on your age, skin quality and lifestyle. HIFU does not stop ageing — it resets the clock, and an annual session maintains the result. Is there any downtime? None in practical terms. Some patients have mild redness or a slightly tender, bruised feeling under the skin for a few days. You can wear make-up and return to work the same day. Who should not have HIFU? It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection or open lesions in the treatment area, or where there are metal implants or an implanted electrical device in the region. Dr Selvi will confirm your suitability at consultation. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
