Service Description

WHAT IT IS Eight blue LED sessions delivered twice weekly over four weeks — the intensive protocol at which LED phototherapy for acne is actually effective. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Frequency is the whole point with LED. Occasional sessions achieve very little; sustained twice-weekly exposure over four weeks produces a measurable reduction in acne bacteria and inflammation. Booking the course commits you to the schedule that works. WHAT WE AIM FOR A clear reduction in inflammatory acne and skin redness by the end of the four weeks, with calmer skin and fewer new breakouts. WHO IT SUITS · Inflammatory acne needing an intensive approach · Skin that cannot tolerate acids · Wanting to avoid or reduce oral antibiotics · Committing to a proper four-week protocol · Combining with a peel course TREATMENT DETAILS Sessions: 8, twice weekly over 4 weeks Appointment: 20–30 minutes each Discomfort: None Downtime: None First results: From week 2 Saving: Against eight individual sessions FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I spread the sessions out over longer? You can, but it works less well. The twice-weekly frequency is what makes the protocol effective. If four weeks is not realistic for your schedule, tell Dr Selvi and she will suggest an alternative approach rather than have you pay for a course that will underperform. What happens after the four weeks? Dr Selvi will assess your response and recommend either maintenance sessions, a peel course, or a different approach depending on how your skin has responded. Will my acne get worse before it gets better? Sometimes, yes. A short purging phase in the first two to four weeks is common as treatment brings existing congestion to the surface faster. It is expected and temporary — stopping at that point is the most common reason people conclude a treatment 'did not work'. How long before I see real improvement? Acne treatment takes time because the skin cycle takes time. Expect meaningful change at six to eight weeks and a clear result at three months. Anyone promising clearance in a fortnight is selling you something. Does what I eat matter? For some people, yes — particularly high-glycaemic foods and, in some individuals, dairy. The evidence is real but the effect varies considerably between people. Dr Selvi will discuss it as part of your assessment rather than issuing a blanket rule. Will I need to change my skincare? Almost certainly, and this is often the most valuable part of the consultation. Many people with acne are using products that make it worse — heavy moisturisers, harsh scrubs, or over-cleansing that strips and inflames the skin. When would you refer me elsewhere? Severe nodulocystic acne, acne that is scarring, and acne that has not responded to appropriate treatment may need oral prescription therapy under dermatology supervision. Dr Selvi will tell you if that is what you need rather than putting you through a course that will not be enough. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability. BOOKING Book online, or start with the free 15-minute initial consultation if you are unsure which treatment is right for you. Prices are a guide and may vary according to your personalised treatment plan.
