Lip Flip — Consultation
Doctor consultation about the upper lip and how it shows when you smile, with treatment if appropriate.
Service Description
WHAT THE CONSULTATION COVERS A face-to-face consultation with Dr Selvi about the upper lip — for example, a lip that seems to roll inwards and show less when you smile. A lip flip uses a very small amount of a prescription-only treatment around the upper lip border. It is different from lip filler and does not add volume. Dr Selvi looks at your lips at rest and when smiling, explains what a lip flip can and cannot change, and discusses alternatives such as filler where these would suit the concern better. WHO IT MAY SUIT · An upper lip that rolls inwards or shows less when you smile · Wanting to discuss options for the upper lip without adding volume · Some gum show when smiling alongside a lip concern · A first appointment for the lips, with questions about what is involved WHAT HAPPENS IF TREATMENT IS APPROPRIATE If a prescription-only treatment is appropriate, Dr Selvi prescribes and administers it himself after a face-to-face assessment; if it is not, he will say so and discuss alternatives. TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: Up to 60 minutes Assessment: Face-to-face, looking at the lips at rest and when smiling, plus medical history and medicines Downtime: Minimal; avoid rubbing the area and strenuous exercise for 24 hours if treatment is given FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Is a lip flip the same as lip filler? No. Filler adds volume; a lip flip does not. Some people have both, and Dr Selvi will explain which, if either, suits your concern. What are the risks? Temporary redness, swelling or bruising are the most common. Because the muscle around the mouth is used for speaking, eating and drinking, some people find it temporarily harder to drink through a straw, whistle or pronounce certain sounds, and the smile can look uneven. These effects are temporary. How noticeable is it? The change is usually subtle and varies between individuals, and a lip flip is not suitable for everyone. Dr Selvi will discuss realistic expectations with you. Who is it not suitable for? It is not given to anyone under 18, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with certain neuromuscular conditions or medicines. If you sing or play a wind instrument, discuss timing with Dr Selvi first. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by Dr Selvi, a doctor, after a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability. BOOKING Book online, or start with a free initial consultation if you are unsure which option is right for you. Prices are a guide and are confirmed after assessment.
