Service Description

WHAT IT IS Marionette line filler at Dr Selvi Clinic in Brighton uses hyaluronic acid filler to soften the lines running down from the corners of the mouth towards the chin, which can make a resting face look sad or stern. It is a Classic Range treatment carried out by Dr Selvi after a free initial consultation. Marionette lines usually form as support is lost around the mouth and jaw. They share causes with the nasolabial folds above them, so Dr Selvi looks at the lower face as a whole rather than at the line alone. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT These lines can make a resting face look sad, tired or stern even when you feel none of those things. Softening them, and supporting the corners of the mouth, can give a more neutral resting expression. WHAT WE AIM FOR Softened lines and better support at the corners of the mouth, with the lines improved rather than erased, because complete erasure tends to look artificial. WHO IT SUITS · Lines running down from the corners of the mouth · Mouth corners that turn down at rest · A resting expression that looks sad or stern · Anyone wanting a measured improvement rather than a filled look TREATMENT DETAILS Treatment time: Typically 30–45 minutes Discomfort: Numbing cream applied Downtime: Mild swelling for 2–3 days; bruising possible Final result: 1–2 weeks, once swelling has settled Duration: Typically 6–12 months, depending on the product used Aftercare: Avoid dental treatment for two weeks FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can the lines be removed completely? Not naturally. Deep lines can be softened considerably, but filling a line completely tends to look heavy or artificial. The aim is improvement in keeping with your face. Do I need cheek or jawline treatment as well? Sometimes. Marionette lines can deepen as support is lost in the cheek and jaw, and treating that support can help the line more than filling it directly. Dr Selvi will explain which areas would make a real difference and which would not. What are the risks? Swelling, tenderness and bruising are the usual effects. The rare, serious risk is vascular occlusion: filler blocking or pressing on a blood vessel and reducing the blood supply to the skin. Skin turning pale or blotchy, or pain that keeps increasing, means phoning the clinic straight away. Hyaluronidase is kept on site so it can be treated immediately. Is it reversible? Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if there is a complication or if you are unhappy once the result has settled. Can I go to the dentist afterwards? Routine dental treatment should wait for two weeks after filler around the mouth and chin, because the jaw is stretched open and the area is handled. Mention any booked appointment at your consultation. Classic or Premium? The Premium Nasolabial / Marionette treatment uses specific branded gels; the Classic Range uses established hyaluronic acid fillers. Both are given by Dr Selvi, who will advise which suits you. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by Dr Selvi, a doctor, after a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
