Service Description

WHAT IT IS Milia are small, firm white bumps caused by keratin trapped beneath the surface of the skin, most often around the eyes and on the cheeks. They are not spots and cannot be squeezed out — removal requires the surface to be opened with a sterile needle and the contents lifted free. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Milia are harmless but persistent, and they do not respond to squeezing, exfoliation or skincare. Attempting to squeeze them causes marking and achieves nothing, because there is no opening for the contents to leave through. WHAT WE AIM FOR Clean removal of the milia with no marking and skin that heals within a few days. WHO IT SUITS · Persistent white bumps around the eyes · Milia on the cheeks or forehead · Bumps that skincare has not shifted · Having tried squeezing without success · Milia after using rich creams or sun exposure TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 20–30 minutes Discomfort: Minimal — brief and well tolerated Downtime: Tiny red marks for 2–3 days Sessions: Usually one; multiple milia treated together Price: £59; large numbers quoted at consultation Prevention: Discussed at your appointment FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Why can't I just squeeze them? Because there is no pore opening for the keratin to come out of — that is what makes a milium different from a whitehead. Squeezing only bruises the surrounding skin and can leave a mark, while the milium stays exactly where it was. Will they come back? Individual milia removed do not return, but you may form new ones if you are prone. Heavy eye creams, occlusive products and sun damage all contribute — Dr Selvi will go through what may be causing yours. How many can be treated in one visit? Usually all of them, unless there are a great many. Dr Selvi will confirm at consultation. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability. BOOKING Book online, or start with the free 15-minute initial consultation if you are unsure which treatment is right for you.
