Service Description

WHAT IT IS Nasolabial filler at Dr Selvi Clinic in Brighton uses hyaluronic acid filler to soften the folds running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, often called smile lines. It is a Classic Range treatment carried out by Dr Selvi after a free initial consultation and an assessment of what is causing the fold. Nasolabial folds are a normal part of the face, and they deepen with age as the cheek above loses support. The aim is to soften them, not to remove them; a face with no folds at all looks artificial. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Deep folds can make the face look tired at rest. A small amount of filler placed along the fold can soften it directly, and in some faces restoring cheek support does more for the fold than treating it alone. WHAT WE AIM FOR Softer folds and a fresher-looking lower face, with product placed to support the fold rather than fill it flat. WHO IT SUITS · Deepening lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth · Folds that remain visible at rest · People who have had cheek treatment and want to refine the folds · Wanting a measured improvement rather than complete removal TREATMENT DETAILS Treatment time: Typically 30–45 minutes Discomfort: Numbing cream applied Downtime: Mild swelling for 2–3 days; bruising possible Final result: 1–2 weeks, once swelling has settled Duration: Typically 6–12 months, depending on the product used Aftercare: Avoid dental treatment for two weeks Available with: Pre-Filler Vascular Mapping (Doppler ultrasound) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Should my cheeks be treated first? Sometimes. When the fold is driven by volume loss in the cheek, restoring the cheek can soften it more than filling the fold directly. Dr Selvi will assess both and tell you which would make the bigger difference. Can the folds be removed completely? No, and they should not be. Everyone has nasolabial folds; filling them flat looks unnatural. The aim is a softer fold that suits your face. What are the risks? Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common. The facial artery runs close to this area and its course varies from person to person. The rare, serious risk is vascular occlusion, where filler blocks or presses on a blood vessel and reduces the blood supply to the skin. Pale or blotchy skin, or pain that keeps increasing, means phoning the clinic straight away; hyaluronidase is kept on site so it can be treated immediately. Is it reversible? Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if there is a complication or if you are unhappy once the result has settled. Are nasolabial folds and marionette lines treated together? They can be. They are separate services because they are different areas, but they share causes and are often assessed together. Dr Selvi will advise whether one or both would help. Classic or Premium? The Premium Nasolabial / Marionette treatment uses specific branded gels; the Classic Range uses established hyaluronic acid fillers. Both are given by Dr Selvi, who will advise which suits you. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by Dr Selvi, a doctor, after a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
