Service Description

WHAT IT IS A thread lift uses fine absorbable polydioxanone threads, introduced under the skin through a needle or cannula, with small barbs or cones that grip the tissue and lift it into a new position. The threads dissolve over six to nine months, but the collagen laid down along their path continues to support the lift. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT It provides an actual mechanical lift — physically repositioning tissue — which no injectable can do. For patients with early jowling or a descending mid-face who are not ready for surgery, it is the closest non-surgical option to genuine lifting. WHAT WE AIM FOR A visible lift of the mid-face or jawline on the day of treatment, with the position maintained and supported by new collagen as the threads dissolve. WHO IT SUITS · Early jowling and mid-face descent · A jawline losing its definition through sagging · Not ready for or not suitable for surgery · Wanting an immediate lifting result · Good skin quality with mild to moderate laxity TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 60–90 minutes Discomfort: Local anaesthetic used; pulling sensation during placement Downtime: Swelling and bruising 5–10 days; tightness for 2 weeks Restrictions: No dental work, facials or heavy exercise for 2–3 weeks; sleep on your back Results: Immediate, settling over 2–4 weeks Duration: 12–18 months Threads: 4 threads FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How many threads do I need? It depends on the degree of laxity and the area. Four threads suit mild laxity or a single area; eight suit moderate laxity or treating both sides more comprehensively. Dr Selvi will assess and recommend rather than defaulting to the larger package. Will anyone be able to see or feel the threads? The threads sit beneath the skin and are not visible. Some patients can feel slight tightness or occasionally a thread end in the first weeks; this settles as the tissue adapts and the threads dissolve. What are the risks? Bruising, swelling, temporary asymmetry, dimpling or puckering of the skin, thread extrusion, and infection are all recognised. Most are temporary and manageable. Dr Selvi will explain them fully before you consent. Is it as good as a facelift? No. A thread lift lifts a few centimetres of tissue and lasts around a year to eighteen months; a facelift is far more extensive and lasts years. For mild to moderate laxity it is a genuine and worthwhile option, and where it is not enough Dr Selvi will tell you so. Can I combine it with fillers? Yes, and it is often the better plan — threads reposition tissue while filler restores lost volume. They address different aspects of the same problem. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
