Plexr Acne Scar & Skin Rejuvenation
Resurface Scarred Skin. Point by Point. Plexr is a plasma device.
Service Description
WHAT IT IS Plexr is a plasma device. It ionises the gas in the air just above the skin to create a tiny plasma arc, which sublimates a microscopic point of the surface tissue without ever touching the skin and without transmitting heat to the surrounding area. The treated points contract immediately, tightening the skin between them, and healing over the following days produces further collagen. Applied across scarred or textured skin in a controlled pattern, resurfacing the surface and stimulating collagen in the healing response to soften indented scarring. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Acne scarring is genuinely difficult to treat and rarely responds to any single approach. Plexr contributes a different mechanism from microneedling or subcision — surface resurfacing plus contraction — and often works best as part of a combined plan. WHAT WE AIM FOR Softened scar edges, improved surface texture and a more even skin surface, built over a course. WHO IT SUITS · Shallow to moderate acne scarring · Uneven, textured skin after acne · Having tried microneedling with partial results · Combining several approaches to scarring · Enlarged pores and rough texture TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 45–60 minutes plus numbing Discomfort: Well tolerated with numbing cream Downtime: Crusting 5–7 days First results: Once crusts fall Full result: 8–12 weeks after the final session Sessions: Course of 2–4, eight weeks apart Often combined with: Subcision, TCA CROSS, microneedling FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Will my acne scars be gone completely? No. Acne scarring is improved rather than erased, and honest expectation-setting matters here more than anywhere. A realistic outcome from a well-planned combined course is a substantial improvement — typically the difference between scarring that is the first thing you see and scarring you have to look for. Which scar types does this suit? Shallow rolling and boxcar scars respond best. Deep ice-pick scars are better addressed with TCA CROSS, and tethered rolling scars with subcision. Dr Selvi will identify your scar types and build a plan around them rather than applying one treatment to everything. Can I have it while I still have active acne? No. Active acne must be controlled first, otherwise you are treating scars while new ones are still forming. Dr Selvi will address the acne first. What does the healing actually look like? Small dark carbon crusts form at each treated point within minutes. They stay for five to seven days and then fall away on their own. They must not be picked, scratched or covered with make-up — picking is the main cause of marking and it is entirely avoidable. How much swelling should I expect? Around the eyes, considerable. Swelling typically peaks on day two or three and can be enough that you would not want to be seen. It settles from day four. Plan a week away from anything social. Is it painful? Strong numbing cream is applied for around 30 to 45 minutes beforehand and most patients tolerate the treatment well. Afterwards it feels like mild sunburn for a day. Will it leave a mark? Uncommon when aftercare is followed properly. There may be temporary pinkness for a few weeks after the crusts fall. Post-inflammatory pigmentation is a genuine risk in richly pigmented skin — Dr Selvi will assess your skin type and advise honestly whether Plexr is appropriate for you. What is the aftercare? Keep the area clean and dry, do not pick the crusts, use only the products Dr Selvi provides or recommends, no make-up until the crusts have gone, and strict SPF 50 for at least three months afterwards. The sun protection is not optional. Who should not have Plexr? It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in active infection or inflammation of the area, for those prone to keloid scarring, or where there is a tendency to post-inflammatory pigmentation. Recent isotretinoin use is also a contraindication. Dr Selvi will confirm your suitability. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
