PRP + Microneedling (Scars) — Session
Your Own Growth Factors, Driven Deep. A combined treatment: a small sample of your blood is taken and spun to concentrate the platelets, producing platelet-rich plasma.
Service Description
WHAT IT IS A combined treatment: a small sample of your blood is taken and spun to concentrate the platelets, producing platelet-rich plasma. Microneedling is then performed and the PRP applied into the open micro-channels, delivering your own growth factors directly into the healing tissue. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Microneedling creates the stimulus; PRP supplies concentrated growth factors into it. The combination enhances the healing response and speeds recovery compared with microneedling alone — and the material is entirely your own, with no risk of allergy or rejection. WHAT WE AIM FOR A stronger collagen response than microneedling alone, with faster healing and greater improvement in scar depth and skin texture. WHO IT SUITS · Acne scarring wanting the strongest regenerative approach · Having had microneedling with only partial improvement · Preferring treatment using your own biological material · Combining scar improvement with overall skin quality · Course of 3 recommended for full benefit TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 75–90 minutes including blood draw and processing Discomfort: Blood draw plus numbed microneedling Downtime: Redness for 24–48 hours First results: From 4–6 weeks Sessions: Course of 3 recommended Course of 3 available: £899 Note: Do not attend dehydrated — drink water beforehand FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Why is my own blood used? Platelets carry the growth factors your body uses to repair tissue. Concentrating them and delivering them directly into freshly created micro-channels puts your own repair signals exactly where the collagen needs to form. Does the blood draw hurt? It is a standard blood test — one small needle in the arm, over in a moment. Tell us if you are needle-phobic and we will take extra care. Is it worth the extra cost over microneedling alone? For scarring, most evidence and clinical experience suggests the combination outperforms microneedling alone. For general skin quality the difference is smaller. Dr Selvi will give you a straight answer for your case rather than defaulting to the more expensive option. What result can I realistically expect? Improvement, not erasure. No treatment removes acne scarring completely, and any clinic telling you otherwise is misleading you. A realistic outcome from a well-planned course is typically a 40 to 70 per cent improvement — the difference between scarring that is the first thing someone notices and scarring you have to look for. Why do I need more than one type of treatment? Because acne scars are not all the same. Ice-pick, boxcar and rolling scars have different structures and respond to different techniques. Applying one treatment to every scar type is the single most common reason scar treatment underdelivers. Do I need my acne under control first? Yes, absolutely. Treating scars while new ones are still forming wastes your money. Dr Selvi will get the active acne controlled before starting scar work — and will say so even if it delays the treatment you came in for. Is scar treatment suitable for darker skin? Yes, with appropriate technique and settings. The main consideration is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is more likely in richly pigmented skin. Dr Selvi may prime your skin, adjust the approach, or space sessions further apart. How important is sun protection? Critical. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50 throughout the course and for months afterwards. Freshly treated skin pigments readily, and sun exposure is the most common cause of a disappointing scar treatment result. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
