Service Description

WHAT IT IS Russian lips at Dr Selvi Clinic in Brighton is a lip filler technique that places small amounts of hyaluronic acid vertically from the lip border inwards, building height and a defined cupid's bow rather than pushing the lip forward. This Classic Range version is carried out by Dr Selvi after a free initial consultation. Russian lips and classic lip augmentation are different techniques with different outcomes, and not everyone suits both. Whether this technique is right for you depends on your lip shape and the space between your nose and upper lip. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT The technique creates height and definition, with a flatter, more defined upper lip and a clear cupid's bow, rather than the forward projection a traditional approach can give. On the right lip shape it can look striking; on another it can be too much, which is why assessment comes first. WHAT WE AIM FOR A taller, well-defined lip with a visible cupid's bow and a clean border, in proportion with your face, built gradually so the result can be reviewed once swelling has settled. WHO IT SUITS · Lips with good natural shape that would benefit from more height · Wanting definition and a clearer cupid's bow rather than forward fullness · Enough space between the nose and the upper lip for the shape to look balanced · Anyone happy to build the result over more than one appointment if needed TREATMENT DETAILS Treatment time: Typically 30–45 minutes Discomfort: Numbing cream applied; most lip fillers also contain local anaesthetic Downtime: Marked swelling for 24–72 hours; bruising is common Final result: 1–2 weeks, once swelling has settled Duration: Typically 6–12 months Worth considering: Pre-Filler Vascular Mapping (Doppler ultrasound) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How is Russian lips different from standard lip filler? Standard augmentation adds fullness and often some projection. The Russian technique places filler in small vertical amounts to build height and definition, so the lip looks taller and flatter from the front rather than pushed forward. Does it suit everyone? No. It depends on the shape of your lips, their proportions and the distance between the nose and the upper lip. Dr Selvi will tell you if a different approach would suit you better. How many treatments will I need? Some people reach the shape they want in one appointment; others build it gradually, with a review at two weeks before adding more. Trying to reach the final result in one sitting is rarely the right approach. What are the risks? Swelling and bruising are common. The lips are a vascular area, and the rare, serious risk is vascular occlusion: filler blocking or pressing on a lip artery and reducing blood flow. It is time-critical, so Dr Selvi plans placement carefully and keeps hyaluronidase on site. Skin turning pale, dusky or blotchy, or pain that keeps increasing, means phoning the clinic straight away. Can it be dissolved? Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if there is a complication, or if you are still unhappy once the swelling has settled. Classic Range or Premium Russian Lips? Both use hyaluronic acid and both are given by Dr Selvi. The Premium version uses specific branded gels; the Classic Range uses established hyaluronic acid fillers. Dr Selvi will advise which suits your lips and the shape you want. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by Dr Selvi, a doctor, after a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
