Service Description

WHAT IT IS Sculptra used on the body rather than the face — most commonly the buttocks, décolletage, upper arms, abdomen or thighs — to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness, thickness and contour. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Body skin loses collagen just as facial skin does, but it is almost always neglected. Crepey décolletage, soft upper arms and post-weight-loss laxity have very few effective non-surgical options, and collagen stimulation is one of the genuinely useful ones. WHAT WE AIM FOR Thicker, firmer, better-quality skin over the treated area with improved contour, developing gradually over three to four months. WHO IT SUITS · Crepey skin on the décolletage or upper arms · Loss of firmness after weight loss · Buttock contour and skin quality · Cellulite-associated skin thinning · Wanting a non-surgical body option TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 60–75 minutes Discomfort: Numbing cream applied Downtime: Swelling for 1–3 days First results: 6–8 weeks Full result: 3–4 months Duration: Up to 2 years Sessions: Course of 2–3 recommended Covers: One body area per session FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Is this the same as a 'Sculptra BBL'? The buttock is one of the areas treated, and collagen stimulation improves skin quality and contour there. It should not be confused with surgical augmentation — the volume change is modest and gradual, and anyone promising a dramatic reshape from injections is overselling it. How many sessions for the body? Body areas are larger and generally need two to three sessions, sometimes more depending on the area and starting point. Dr Selvi will be specific at consultation. How is a biostimulator different from filler? Filler adds volume immediately — the gel itself is what you see. A biostimulator adds very little volume at first; it prompts your own body to produce new collagen over the following months. The result builds slowly and is your own tissue, which is why it looks and moves naturally. Why does it take so long to see a result? Because collagen production is a biological process, not a mechanical one. Expect the first visible change at around six to eight weeks and the full result at three to four months. Patience here is not a drawback — it is why nobody can tell you had anything done. Is it reversible? No. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, biostimulators cannot be dissolved. This is why conservative dosing and an experienced injector matter, and why Dr Selvi will assess carefully whether you are a suitable candidate. Do I need to massage afterwards? For most biostimulators, yes — usually five minutes, five times a day, for five days. Dr Selvi will give you specific aftercare instructions for your product, and following them properly matters for an even result. What are the risks? Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common and settle within days. Nodules under the skin are the main specific risk with this class of product; they are uncommon with correct technique and dosing, and are manageable. All risks will be explained fully before you consent. Who will treat me? All injectable treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
