Sculptra (Face)
Rebuild Your Own Collagen. Gradually. Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable that works as a collagen stimulator rather than a filler.
Service Description
WHAT IT IS Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable that works as a collagen stimulator rather than a filler. It is placed in the deep tissue, where it prompts a controlled response that builds new collagen over three to four months. The particles themselves are gradually absorbed; what remains is your own tissue. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT It restores facial volume without adding gel — which means no risk of the heavy, overfilled appearance, and a change so gradual that friends notice you look well rather than noticing you look treated. It also lasts considerably longer than hyaluronic acid. WHAT WE AIM FOR Restored facial volume and improved skin thickness and firmness, developing over three to four months and lasting up to two years. WHO IT SUITS · Generalised facial volume loss rather than one hollow area · Thin skin that has lost its underlying support · Wanting a gradual, undetectable change · Preferring a longer-lasting result · Post-weight-loss facial gauntness TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 45–60 minutes Discomfort: Numbing cream applied Downtime: Swelling for 1–3 days; bruising possible First results: 6–8 weeks Full result: 3–4 months Duration: Up to 2 years Sessions: Usually a course of 2–3, six weeks apart Aftercare: Massage 5 minutes, 5 times daily, for 5 days FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How many sessions will I actually need? Most patients need two to three sessions spaced around six weeks apart. The number depends on how much volume has been lost, and Dr Selvi will give you a realistic figure at consultation rather than after you have started. Will I look different straight away? You may look slightly fuller for a day or two from the fluid the product is mixed in, then return to your starting point. The real change begins at around six weeks. This is expected — do not be alarmed. How is a biostimulator different from filler? Filler adds volume immediately — the gel itself is what you see. A biostimulator adds very little volume at first; it prompts your own body to produce new collagen over the following months. The result builds slowly and is your own tissue, which is why it looks and moves naturally. Why does it take so long to see a result? Because collagen production is a biological process, not a mechanical one. Expect the first visible change at around six to eight weeks and the full result at three to four months. Patience here is not a drawback — it is why nobody can tell you had anything done. Is it reversible? No. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, biostimulators cannot be dissolved. This is why conservative dosing and an experienced injector matter, and why Dr Selvi will assess carefully whether you are a suitable candidate. Do I need to massage afterwards? For most biostimulators, yes — usually five minutes, five times a day, for five days. Dr Selvi will give you specific aftercare instructions for your product, and following them properly matters for an even result. What are the risks? Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common and settle within days. Nodules under the skin are the main specific risk with this class of product; they are uncommon with correct technique and dosing, and are manageable. All risks will be explained fully before you consent. Who will treat me? All injectable treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability.
