Service Description
WHAT IT IS Skin tags are small, soft, benign growths that hang from the skin, most commonly in areas of friction — the neck, underarms, eyelids, groin and under the breasts. Removal is quick, carried out in clinic under local anaesthetic where needed, using the technique most suitable for the tag's size and site. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Skin tags catch on jewellery, collars and razors, they can become sore or inflamed, and many people simply dislike how they look. Removal is one of the simplest and most satisfying procedures offered. WHAT WE AIM FOR Complete removal of the tag with clean healing and minimal or no visible mark. WHO IT SUITS · Skin tags catching on clothing or jewellery · Tags on the neck, eyelids or underarms · Tags that have become sore or inflamed · Multiple small tags in one area · Wanting them dealt with properly rather than at home TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 20–30 minutes Discomfort: Local anaesthetic used where needed Downtime: A small scab for 5–7 days Sessions: Usually one Price: £69; multiple tags quoted at consultation Aftercare: Keep clean and dry; do not pick the scab FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I remove them at home? Please do not. Home removal kits and tying tags off with thread risk infection, bleeding, scarring and — most importantly — destroying a lesion that was not actually a skin tag. It is a five-minute procedure done properly. Will they grow back? A properly removed tag does not return in the same place, but if you are prone to them new ones may develop elsewhere. This is usually related to friction, weight and sometimes hormonal factors. Can several be removed at once? Yes, and that is usually the sensible approach. Dr Selvi will quote you for the number you have at consultation. Will you remove anything I ask you to? No. Any pigmented or changing lesion is assessed before removal, because destroying a lesion without examining it removes the ability to diagnose it. If there is any suspicious feature — irregular border, uneven colour, recent change, bleeding or itching — Dr Selvi will not remove it cosmetically and will arrange dermatoscopy, ultrasound assessment or referral instead. This is a safety principle, not a sales limitation. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability. BOOKING Book online, or start with the free 15-minute initial consultation if you are unsure which treatment is right for you.
