Service Description

WHAT IT IS An intramuscular injection of vitamin B12, given after a brief medical assessment. B12 is essential for red blood cell formation, nerve function and energy metabolism, and is absorbed poorly by some people from diet alone. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE IT Vegans, vegetarians, people with absorption conditions and those taking certain long-term medications are genuinely at risk of B12 deficiency. Injection bypasses the absorption problem entirely. WHAT WE AIM FOR Restoration or maintenance of B12 levels where dietary intake or absorption is inadequate. WHO IT SUITS · Vegan or vegetarian diet · Absorption conditions affecting B12 · Long-term metformin or acid-suppressing medication · Known low B12 on blood testing · Fatigue with a confirmed deficiency TREATMENT DETAILS Appointment: 10–15 minutes Assessment: Brief medical assessment Discomfort: A single intramuscular injection Downtime: None Frequency: Advised individually based on levels and cause FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Should I have my levels tested first? Ideally yes, and Dr Selvi will advise. Supplementing without knowing your baseline means you cannot tell whether it is needed or whether it is working — and importantly, treating a deficiency without identifying its cause can mask something that needs investigating. Will it give me more energy? If you are genuinely deficient, correcting it often makes a real difference. If your levels are normal, additional B12 is very unlikely to do anything for your energy, and it would be dishonest to suggest otherwise. Is this a substitute for medical treatment? No. These are wellness treatments, not treatments for diagnosed medical conditions. If you have symptoms that concern you, see your GP — and tell Dr Selvi about any diagnosis or medication at your assessment. What are the risks? Bruising, discomfort at the injection or cannula site, and occasionally light-headedness. More significant reactions are uncommon but possible, which is why treatment is given by a doctor after assessment. All risks are explained before you consent. How will I feel afterwards? Most people feel fine and return to normal activities immediately. Some report feeling more energetic; responses vary considerably between individuals and it would be wrong to promise a particular effect. How often can I have it? That depends on the treatment and on you. Dr Selvi will advise an appropriate interval at your assessment rather than encouraging routine frequent use. Who will treat me? All treatments at Dr Selvi Clinic are carried out by a doctor, following a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of your suitability. BOOKING Book online, or start with a free initial consultation if you are unsure which treatment is right for you. Prices are a guide and may vary according to your personalised treatment plan.
