It cannot restore lip height that has descended with age, and it cannot correct a gummy smile; those need different treatments. Nor can it make small lips large in one appointment without looking obviously treated. Building gradually is how natural results happen. Will my lips look obviously done? At sensible volumes, in lips that suit the treatment, no. By the two-week mark most people are told they look well rather than asked what they have had done. How much swelling should I expect? Lips swell more than most areas. Expect significant swelling for the first 24–72 hours, possibly some lumps or unevenness on the first day, and bruising in some people. Do not judge the shape before two weeks. Soft food and no straws, hot drinks or vigorous kissing for 24 hours make it more comfortable. What are the risks? The lips are a vascular area. The complication that matters is vascular occlusion, where filler interrupts the blood supply to part of the lip. It is rare and time-critical, and manageable when the person treating you is trained and has hyaluronidase on site, as Dr Selvi Clinic does. Skin turning pale or dusky, or pain that keeps increasing, means phoning the clinic straight away. What if I do not like the result? Wait for the swelling to settle before deciding. If you are still unhappy at two weeks, hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Classic or Premium lip filler? Both use hyaluronic acid and both are given by Dr Selvi.
