Profhilo in Brighton: What It Does, and What It Does Not

Profhilo is asked for by name more than almost any other treatment, and it is also one of the most commonly misunderstood. It is not filler and it will not change the shape of your face. It works on the quality of the skin.

What Profhilo actually is

Profhilo is a highly concentrated, stabilised hyaluronic acid used for bio-remodelling rather than volumising. It spreads through the tissue instead of holding its shape in one place, drawing in water and stimulating the skin to improve its own hydration, firmness and elasticity over the following weeks.

Because it spreads, it cannot be used to build a cheek or define a jawline. If that is what you want, filler is the right tool and we will say so.

What it treats well

  • Skin that has lost firmness and bounce but has not lost significant volume

  • Crepey texture on the lower face, neck and décolletage

  • Dull, dehydrated skin that does not respond to topical products alone

  • The back of the hands, where thin skin shows early

How a course works

The standard protocol is two sessions four weeks apart, with a small number of injection points on each side of the face. Results build over the following weeks rather than appearing immediately, and most people are advised to repeat the course after around six months.

Small raised bumps at the injection points are expected and usually settle within a day. Bruising is possible.

Profhilo, skin boosters and polynucleotides — which is which

  • Profhilo: hyaluronic acid, works mainly through hydration and bio-remodelling.

  • Other skin boosters such as Seventy Hyal or Jalupro: similar principle, different formulations and protocols.

  • Polynucleotides: not hyaluronic acid at all — DNA fragments that stimulate repair. Often better for thin under-eye skin and for texture and scarring.

These are frequently combined across a treatment plan rather than chosen one against the other. If you want the detail on the third one, we have written about polynucleotides separately.

Who it is not for

Profhilo is avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding, in active infection at the treatment site, and where there is known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid products. It also will not correct volume loss, and it is not a substitute for treating pigmentation or acne scarring.

Common questions

When will I see a difference?

Most people notice a change in skin quality a few weeks after the second session, with the fuller effect at around eight weeks.

Will it make my face look fuller?

No. That is the point of it — the improvement is in skin quality, not volume.

Can I have it with botulinum toxin or filler?

Yes, and it is commonly part of a combined plan, usually in separate appointments.

How much does it cost in Brighton?

Current Profhilo pricing, including body and décolletage treatment, is on our price list.
